Marine Cooler and Shell-and-Tube Heat Exchanger Renewal

Removal of the tube bundle, inspection for corrosion and leakage, repair or made to measure remanufacture of U-tube bundles and tube sheets.

The exchanger is dismantled and the tube bundle withdrawn from the shell. After fouling, corrosion, leakage and deformation have been assessed, dimensions are taken. The bundle is repaired where possible, otherwise a new one is built to fit the existing shell. Baffles and support plates are checked separately.

Scope

Sequence of work

  1. Dismantling the exchanger and withdrawing the tube bundle
  2. Inspection for corrosion, fouling, leakage and deformation
  3. Dimensional survey and material identification
  4. Preparation of U-bent tubes
  5. Inspection or renewal of baffles and support plates
  6. Repair or remanufacture of the tube sheet
  7. Tube installation and expansion
  8. Pressure and leak testing
  9. Assembly and commissioning support

Where the work is done

  • On board, in the machinery space or on deck
  • In the yard, while the vessel is docked or alongside
  • In the workshop in Tuzla, when the equipment is removed and brought in
  • Across Türkiye and, where required, in foreign ports
